lima uses a shared interrupt, so the interrupt handlers must be prepared
to be called at any time. At driver removal time, the clocks are
disabled early and the interrupts stay registered until the very end of
the remove process due to the devm usage.
This is potentially a bug as the interrupts access device registers
which assumes clocks are enabled. A crash can be triggered by removing
the driver in a kernel with CONFIG_DEBUG_SHIRQ enabled.
This patch frees the interrupts at each lima device finishing callback
so that the handlers are already unregistered by the time we fully
disable clocks.

In nv17_tv_get_hd_modes(), the return value of drm_mode_duplicate() is

on failure of drm_mode_duplicate(). The same applies to drm_cvt_mode().

In the past, there were similar failures reported by CI from other IGT
tests, observed on other platforms.
Before commit 63baf4f3d587 ("drm/i915/gt: Only wait for GPU activity
before unbinding a GGTT fence"), i915_vma_revoke_fence() was waiting for
idleness of vma->active via fence_update(). That commit introduced
vma->fence->active in order for the fence_update() to be able to wait
selectively on that one instead of vma->active since only idleness of
fence registers was needed. But then, another commit 0d86ee35097a
("drm/i915/gt: Make fence revocation unequivocal") replaced the call to
fence_update() in i915_vma_revoke_fence() with only fence_write(), and
also added that GEM_BUG_ON(!i915_active_is_idle(&fence->active)) in front.
No justification was provided on why we might then expect idleness of
vma->fence->active without first waiting on it.
The issue can be potentially caused by a race among revocation of fence
registers on one side and sequential execution of signal callbacks invoked
on completion of a request that was using them on the other, still
processed in parallel to revocation of those fence registers. Fix it by
waiting for idleness of vma->fence->active in i915_vma_revoke_fence().

This is an effort to get rid of all multiplications from allocation
functions in order to prevent integer overflows [1] [2].
In this case, the memory allocated to store RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT pointers
to "drm_connector" structures can be avoided. This is because this
memory area is never accessed.
Also, in the kzalloc function, it is preferred to use sizeof(*pointer)
instead of sizeof(type) due to the type of the variable can change and
one needs not change the former (unlike the latter).
At the same time take advantage to remove the "#if 0" block, the code
where the removed memory area was accessed, and the RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT
constant due to now is never used.

There is a race condition in which a rendering job might take just long
enough to trigger the drm sched job timeout handler but also still
complete before the hard reset is done by the timeout handler.
This runs into race conditions not expected by the timeout handler.
In some very specific cases it currently may result in a refcount
imbalance on lima_pm_idle, with a stack dump such as:
[10136.669170] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 0 at drivers/gpu/drm/lima/lima_devfreq.c:205 lima_devfreq_record_idle+0xa0/0xb0

We can prevent that race condition entirely by masking the irqs at the
beginning of the timeout handler, at which point we give up on waiting
for that job entirely.
The irqs will be enabled again at the next hard reset which is already
done as a recovery by the timeout handler.

commit 799d4b392417ed6889030a5b2335ccb6dcf030ab upstream.
When reading EDID fails and driver reports no modes available, the DRM
core adds an artificial 1024x786 mode to the connector. Unfortunately
some variants of the Exynos HDMI (like the one in Exynos4 SoCs) are not
able to drive such mode, so report a safe 640x480 mode instead of nothing
in case of the EDID reading failure.
This fixes the following issue observed on Trats2 board since commit

Device managed panel bridge wrappers are created by calling to
drm_panel_bridge_add_typed() and registering a release handler for
clean-up when the device gets unbound.
Since the memory for this bridge is also managed and linked to the panel
device, the release function should not try to free that memory.
Moreover, the call to devm_kfree() inside drm_panel_bridge_remove() will
fail in this case and emit a warning because the panel bridge resource
is no longer on the device resources list (it has been removed from
there before the call to release handlers).

The bridge always uses 24bpp internally. Therefore, for jeida-18
mapping we need to discard the lowest two bits for each channel and thus
starting with LV_[RGB]2. jeida-24 has the same mapping but uses four
lanes instead of three, with the forth pair transmitting the lowest two
bits of each channel. Thus, the mapping between jeida-18 and jeida-24
is actually the same, except that one channel is turned off (by
selecting the RGB666 format in VPCTRL).
While at it, remove the bogus comment about the hardware default because
the default is overwritten in any case.
Tested with a jeida-18 display (Evervision VGG644804).

There is a race condition when re-creating a kfd_process for a process.
This has been observed when a process under the debugger executes
exec(3). In this scenario:
- The process executes exec.
- This will eventually release the process's mm, which will cause the
kfd_process object associated with the process to be freed
(kfd_process_free_notifier decrements the reference count to the
kfd_process to 0). This causes kfd_process_ref_release to enqueue
kfd_process_wq_release to the kfd_process_wq.
- The debugger receives the PTRACE_EVENT_EXEC notification, and tries to
re-enable AMDGPU traps (KFD_IOC_DBG_TRAP_ENABLE).
- When handling this request, KFD tries to re-create a kfd_process.
This eventually calls kfd_create_process and kobject_init_and_add.
At this point the call to kobject_init_and_add can fail because the
old kfd_process.kobj has not been freed yet by kfd_process_wq_release.
This patch proposes to avoid this race by making sure to drain
kfd_process_wq before creating a new kfd_process object. This way, we
know that any cleanup task is done executing when we reach
kobject_init_and_add.

I didn't pay close enough attention the last time I tried to fix this
problem - while we currently do correctly take care to make sure we don't
probe a connected eDP port more then once, we don't do the same thing for
eDP ports we found to be disconnected.
So, fix this and make sure we only ever probe eDP ports once and then leave
them at that connector state forever (since without HPD, it's not going to
change on its own anyway). This should get rid of the last few GSP errors
getting spit out during runtime suspend and resume on some machines, as we
tried to reprobe eDP ports in response to ACPI hotplug probe events.

chance the ptrs value won't have been stored since refcount_set

we want it on all CPUs and it's write followed by a read.

bogus values.
On the other hand, many of the struct drm_panel_funcs .get_modes() hooks
do return negative error codes, so handle them gracefully instead of
propagating further.

It's possible that mtk_crtc->event is NULL in
mtk_drm_crtc_finish_page_flip().
pending_needs_vblank value is set by mtk_crtc->event, but in
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_flush(), it's is not guarded by the same
lock in mtk_drm_finish_page_flip(), thus a race condition happens.
Consider the following case:
CPU1 CPU2
step 1:
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_begin()
mtk_crtc->event is not null,
step 1:
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_flush:
mtk_drm_crtc_update_config(
!!mtk_crtc->event)
step 2:
mtk_crtc_ddp_irq ->
mtk_drm_finish_page_flip:
lock
mtk_crtc->event set to null,
pending_needs_vblank set to false
unlock
pending_needs_vblank set to true,
step 2:
mtk_crtc_ddp_irq ->
mtk_drm_finish_page_flip called again,
pending_needs_vblank is still true
//null pointer
Instead of guarding the entire mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_flush(), it's more
efficient to just check if mtk_crtc->event is null before use.

When the driver sets up the zpos property it sets the default zpos value
to the HW id of the plane. That is fine as such, but as on many DSS
versions the driver arranges the DRM planes in a different order than
the HW planes (to keep the non-scalable planes first), this leads to odd
initial zpos values. An example is J721e, where the initial zpos values
for DRM planes are 1, 3, 0, 2.
In theory the userspace should configure the zpos values properly when
using multiple planes, and in that sense the initial zpos values
shouldn't matter, but there's really no reason not to fix this and help
the userspace apps which don't handle zpos perfectly. In particular,
some versions of Weston seem to have issues dealing with the planes
with the current default zpos values.
So let's change the zpos values for the DRM planes to 0, 1, 2, 3.
Another option would be to configure the planes marked as primary planes
to zpos 0. On a two display system this would give us plane zpos values
of 0, 0, 1, 2. The end result and behavior would be very similar in this
option, and I'm not aware that this would actually help us in any way.
So, to keep the code simple, I opted for the 0, 1, 2, 3 values.

The register bits definitions for RGB666 formats are wrong in multiple
ways: first, in the DSI_PS_SEL bits region, the Packed 18-bits RGB666
format is selected with bit 1, while the Loosely Packed one is bit 2,
and second - the definition name "LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666" is wrong
because the loosely packed format is 24 bits instead!
Either way, functions mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() and mtk_dsi_ps_control()
do not even agree on the DSI_PS_SEL bit to set in DSI_PSCTRL: one sets
loosely packed (24) on RGB666, the other sets packed (18), and the other
way around for RGB666_PACKED.
Fixing this entire stack of issues is done in one go:
- Use the correct bit for the Loosely Packed RGB666 definition
- Rename LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666 to LOOSELY_PS_24BIT_RGB666
- Change ps_bpp_mode in mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() to set:
- Loosely Packed, 24-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666
- Packed, 18-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666_PACKED

happened and needs to be fixed, however it could simply be part of a
normal boot process where EPROBE_DEFER is taken into account. Therefore,
let's use dev_err_probe so that this message doesn't get shown (by
default) when the return code is EPROBE_DEFER.

When waiting for a syncobj timeline point whose fence has not yet been
submitted with the WAIT_FOR_SUBMIT flag, a callback is registered using
drm_syncobj_fence_add_wait and the thread is put to sleep until the
timeout expires. If the fence is submitted before then,
drm_syncobj_add_point will wake up the sleeping thread immediately which
will proceed to wait for the fence to be signaled.
However, if the WAIT_AVAILABLE flag is used instead,
drm_syncobj_fence_add_wait won't get called, meaning the waiting thread
will always sleep for the full timeout duration, even if the fence gets
submitted earlier. If it turns out that the fence *has* been submitted
by the time it eventually wakes up, it will still indicate to userspace
that the wait completed successfully (it won't return -ETIME), but it
will have taken much longer than it should have.
To fix this, we must call drm_syncobj_fence_add_wait if *either* the
WAIT_FOR_SUBMIT flag or the WAIT_AVAILABLE flag is set. The only
difference being that with WAIT_FOR_SUBMIT we will also wait for the
fence to be signaled after it has been submitted while with
WAIT_AVAILABLE we will return immediately.

Based on grepping through the source code this driver appears to be
missing a call to drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at system shutdown time
and at driver unbind time. Among other things, this means that if a
panel is in use that it won't be cleanly powered off at system
shutdown time.
The fact that we should call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() in the case
of OS shutdown/restart and at driver remove (or unbind) time comes
straight out of the kernel doc "driver instance overview" in
drm_drv.c.
A few notes about this fix:
- When adding drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() to the unbind path, I added
it after drm_kms_helper_poll_fini() since that's when other drivers
seemed to have it.
- Technically with a previous patch, ("drm/atomic-helper:
drm_atomic_helper_shutdown(NULL) should be a noop"), we don't
actually need to check to see if our "drm" pointer is NULL before
calling drm_atomic_helper_shutdown(). We'll leave the "if" test in,
though, so that this patch can land without any dependencies. It
could potentially be removed later.
- This patch also makes sure to set the drvdata to NULL in the case of
bind errors to make sure that shutdown can't access freed data.

It's been reported that DSI host driver's detach can be called without
the attach ever happening:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/20230412073954.20601-1-tony@atomide.com/
After reading the code, I think this is what happens:
We have a DSI host defined in the device tree and a DSI peripheral under
that host (i.e. an i2c device using the DSI as data bus doesn't exhibit
this behavior).
The host driver calls mipi_dsi_host_register(), which causes (via a few
functions) mipi_dsi_device_add() to be called for the DSI peripheral. So
now we have a DSI device under the host, but attach hasn't been called.
Normally the probing of the devices continues, and eventually the DSI
peripheral's driver will call mipi_dsi_attach(), attaching the
peripheral.
However, if the host driver's probe encounters an error after calling
mipi_dsi_host_register(), and before the peripheral has called
mipi_dsi_attach(), the host driver will do cleanups and return an error
from its probe function. The cleanups include calling
mipi_dsi_host_unregister().
mipi_dsi_host_unregister() will call two functions for all its DSI
peripheral devices: mipi_dsi_detach() and mipi_dsi_device_unregister().
The latter makes sense, as the device exists, but the former may be
wrong as attach has not necessarily been done.
To fix this, track the attached state of the peripheral, and only detach
from mipi_dsi_host_unregister() if the peripheral was attached.
Note that I have only tested this with a board with an i2c DSI
peripheral, not with a "pure" DSI peripheral.
However, slightly related, the unregister machinery still seems broken.
E.g. if the DSI host driver is unbound, it'll detach and unregister the
DSI peripherals. After that, when the DSI peripheral driver unbound
it'll call detach either directly or using the devm variant, leading to
a crash. And probably the driver will crash if it happens, for some
reason, to try to send a message via the DSI bus.
But that's another topic.

commit 28d3d0696688154cc04983f343011d07bf0508e4 upstream.
The i2c_master_send/recv() functions return negative error codes or
they return "len" on success. So the error handling here can be written
as just normal checks for "if (ret < 0) return ret;". No need to
complicate things.
Btw, in this code the "len" parameter can never be zero, but even if
it were, then I feel like this would still be the best way to write it.

commit 95d4b471953411854f9c80b568da7fcf753f3801 upstream.
tidss_crtc_atomic_flush() checks if the crtc is enabled, and if not,
returns immediately as there's no reason to do any register changes.
However, the code checks for 'crtc->state->enable', which does not
reflect the actual HW state. We should instead look at the
'crtc->state->active' flag.
This causes the tidss_crtc_atomic_flush() to proceed with the flush even
if the active state is false, which then causes us to hit the
WARN_ON(!crtc->state->event) check.
Fix this by checking the active flag, and while at it, fix the related
debug print which had "active" and "needs modeset" wrong way.

The i2c_master_send/recv() functions return negative error codes or the
number of bytes that were able to be sent/received. This code has
two problems. 1) Instead of checking if all the bytes were sent or
received, it checks that at least one byte was sent or received.
2) If there was a partial send/receive then we should return a negative
error code but this code returns success.

commit cb4daf271302d71a6b9a7c01bd0b6d76febd8f0c upstream.
If we get a deadlock after the fb lookup in drm_mode_page_flip_ioctl()
we proceed to unref the fb and then retry the whole thing from the top.
But we forget to reset the fb pointer back to NULL, and so if we then
get another error during the retry, before the fb lookup, we proceed
the unref the same fb again without having gotten another reference.
The end result is that the fb will (eventually) end up being freed
while it's still in use.
Reset fb to NULL once we've unreffed it to avoid doing it again
until we've done another fb lookup.
This turned out to be pretty easy to hit on a DG2 when doing async
flips (and CONFIG_DEBUG_WW_MUTEX_SLOWPATH=y). The first symptom I
saw that drm_closefb() simply got stuck in a busy loop while walking
the framebuffer list. Fortunately I was able to convince it to oops
instead, and from there it was easier to track down the culprit.

some time to reach the required voltage, too.

The DP CTS test for EDID last block checksum expects the checksum for
the last block, invalid or not. Skip the validity check.
For the most part (*), the EDIDs returned by drm_get_edid() will be
valid anyway, and there's the CTS workaround to get the checksum for
completely invalid EDIDs. See commit 7948fe12d47a ("drm/msm/dp: return
correct edid checksum after corrupted edid checksum read").
This lets us remove one user of drm_edid_block_valid() with hopes the
function can be removed altogether in the future.

If DRM_IOCTL_SYNCOBJ_TIMELINE_WAIT is invoked with the

submitted for the given timeline point the call will fail immediately

The following small example program illustrates the issue. It should

The difference between drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail() and
drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm() is
drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail() will commit plane first and
then enable crtc, drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm() will
enable crtc first and then commit plane.
Before mediatek-drm enables crtc, the power and clk required
by OVL have not been turned on, so the commit plane cannot be
committed before crtc is enabled. That means OVL layer should
not be enabled before crtc is enabled.
Therefore, the atomic_commit_tail of mediatek-drm is hooked with
drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm().
Another reason is that the plane_state of drm_atomic_state is not
synchronized with the plane_state stored in mtk_crtc during crtc enablng,
so just set all planes to disabled.

Non-continuous clock mode doesn't work because driver doesn't support it
properly. The bridge driver programs wrong bitfields that are required by
the non-continuous mode (BTACNTRL1 register bitfields are swapped in the
code), but fixing them doesn't help.
Display panel of ASUS Transformer TF700T tablet supports non-continuous
mode and display doesn't work at all using that mode. There are no
device-trees that are actively using this DSI bridge in upstream yet,
so clearly the broken mode wasn't ever tested properly. It's a bit too
difficult to get LP mode working, hence let's disable the offending mode
for now and fall back to continuous mode.

Add a new drm_connector_oob_hotplug_event() function and
oob_hotplug_event drm_connector_funcs member.
On some hardware a hotplug event notification may come from outside the
display driver / device. An example of this is some USB Type-C setups
where the hardware muxes the DisplayPort data and aux-lines but does
not pass the altmode HPD status bit to the GPU's DP HPD pin.
In cases like this the new drm_connector_oob_hotplug_event() function can
be used to report these out-of-band events.
Changes in v2:
- Make drm_connector_oob_hotplug_event() take a fwnode as argument and
have it call drm_connector_find_by_fwnode() internally. This allows
making drm_connector_find_by_fwnode() a drm-internal function and
avoids code outside the drm subsystem potentially holding on the
a drm_connector reference for a longer period.
Changes in v3:
- Drop the data argument to the drm_connector_oob_hotplug_event
function since it is not used atm. This can be re-added later when
a use for it actually arises.

Add a function to find a connector based on a fwnode.
This will be used by the new drm_connector_oob_hotplug_event()
function which is added by the next patch in this patch-set.
Changes in v2:
- Complete rewrite to use a global connector list in drm_connector.c
rather then using a class-dev-iter in drm_sysfs.c
Changes in v3:
- Add forward declaration for struct fwnode_handle to drm_crtc_internal.h

Add a fwnode pointer to struct drm_connector and register an acpi_bus_type
for the connectors with the ACPI subsystem (when CONFIG_ACPI is enabled).
The adding of the fwnode pointer allows drivers to associate a fwnode
that represents a connector with that connector.
When the new fwnode pointer points to an ACPI-companion, then the new
acpi_bus_type will cause the ACPI subsys to bind the device instantiated
for the connector with the fwnode by calling acpi_bind_one(). This will
result in a firmware_node symlink under /sys/class/card#-<connecter-name>/
which helps to verify that the fwnode-s and connectors are properly
matched.
Changes in v2:
- Make drm_connector_cleanup() call fwnode_handle_put() on
connector->fwnode and document this

commit e339c6d628fe66c9b64bf31040a55770952aec57 upstream.
If we can't find a free fence register to handle a fault in the GMADR
range just return VM_FAULT_NOPAGE without populating the PTE so that
userspace will retry the access and trigger another fault. Eventually
we should find a free fence and the fault will get properly handled.
A further improvement idea might be to reserve a fence (or one per CPU?)
for the express purpose of handling faults without having to retry. But
that would require some additional work.
Looks like this may have gotten broken originally by
commit 39965b376601 ("drm/i915: don't trash the gtt when running out of fences")
as that changed the errno to -EDEADLK which wasn't handle by the gtt
fault code either. But later in commit 2feeb52859fc ("drm/i915/gt: Fix
-EDEADLK handling regression") I changed it again to -ENOBUFS as -EDEADLK
was now getting used for the ww mutex dance. So this fix only makes
sense after that last commit.

dsi_wait4video_done() API waits for the DSI video mode engine to
become idle so that we can transmit the DCS commands in the
beginning of BLLP. However, with the current sequence, the MDP
timing engine is turned on after the panel's pre_enable() callback
which can send out the DCS commands needed to power up the panel.
During those cases, this API will always timeout and print out the
error spam leading to long bootup times and log flooding.
Fix this by checking if the DSI video engine was actually busy before
waiting for it to become idle otherwise this is a redundant wait.

DP PHY re-initialization done using dp_ctrl_reinitialize_mainlink() will
cause PLL unlocked initially and then PLL gets locked at the end of
initialization. PLL_UNLOCKED interrupt will fire during this time if the
interrupt mask is enabled.
However currently DP driver link training implementation incorrectly
re-initializes PHY unconditionally during link training as the PHY was
already configured in dp_ctrl_enable_mainlink_clocks().
Fix this by re-initializing the PHY only if the previous link training
failed.
