1d1b43f1b8 lockd: use svc_set_num_threads() for thread start and stop
[ Upstream commit 6b044fbaab02292fedb17565dbb3f2528083b169 ]

svc_set_num_threads() does everything that lockd_start_svc() does, except
set sv_maxconn. It also (when passed 0) finds the threads and
stops them with kthread_stop().

So move the setting for sv_maxconn, and use svc_set_num_thread()

We now don't need nlmsvc_task.

Now that we use svc_set_num_threads() it makes sense to set svo_module.
This request that the thread exists with module_put_and_exit().
Also fix the documentation for svo_module to make this explicit.

svc_prepare_thread is now only used where it is defined, so it can be
made static.

0d86a30cbb SUNRPC: always treat sv_nrpools==1 as "not pooled"
[ Upstream commit 93aa619eb0b42eec2f3a9b4d9db41f5095390aec ]

Currently 'pooled' services hold a reference on the pool_map, and
'unpooled' services do not.
svc_destroy() uses the presence of ->svo_function (via
svc_serv_is_pooled()) to determine if the reference should be dropped.
There is no direct correlation between being pooled and the use of
svo_function, though in practice, lockd is the only non-pooled service,
and the only one not to use svo_function.

This is untidy and would cause problems if we changed lockd to use
svc_set_num_threads(), which requires the use of ->svo_function.

So change the test for "is the service pooled" to "is sv_nrpools > 1".

This means that when svc_pool_map_get() returns 1, it must NOT take a
reference to the pool.

We discard svc_serv_is_pooled(), and test sv_nrpools directly.

ab30e7bffb SUNRPC: discard svo_setup and rename svc_set_num_threads_sync()
[ Upstream commit 3ebdbe5203a874614819700d3f470724cb803709 ]

The ->svo_setup callback serves no purpose. It is always called from

f1f6cafeb9 SUNRPC: use sv_lock to protect updates to sv_nrthreads.
[ Upstream commit 2a36395fac3b72771f87c3ee4387e3a96d85a7cc ]

Using sv_lock means we don't need to hold the service mutex over these
updates.

In particular, svc_exit_thread() no longer requires synchronisation, so
threads can exit asynchronously.

Note that we could use an atomic_t, but as there are many more read
sites than writes, that would add unnecessary noise to the code.
Some reads are already racy, and there is no need for them to not be.

58232d691d SUNRPC: stop using ->sv_nrthreads as a refcount
[ Upstream commit ec52361df99b490f6af412b046df9799b92c1050 ]

The use of sv_nrthreads as a general refcount results in clumsy code, as
is seen by various comments needed to explain the situation.

This patch introduces a 'struct kref' and uses that for reference
counting, leaving sv_nrthreads to be a pure count of threads. The kref
is managed particularly in svc_get() and svc_put(), and also nfsd_put();

svc_destroy() now takes a pointer to the embedded kref, rather than to
the serv.

nfsd allows the svc_serv to exist with ->sv_nrhtreads being zero. This
happens when a transport is created before the first thread is started.
To support this, a 'keep_active' flag is introduced which holds a ref on
the svc_serv. This is set when any listening socket is successfully
added (unless there are running threads), and cleared when the number of
threads is set. So when the last thread exits, the nfs_serv will be
destroyed.
The use of 'keep_active' replaces previous code which checked if there
were any permanent sockets.

We no longer clear ->rq_server when nfsd() exits. This was done
to prevent svc_exit_thread() from calling svc_destroy().
Instead we take an extra reference to the svc_serv to prevent
svc_destroy() from being called.

a1ed765f29 SUNRPC/NFSD: clean up get/put functions.
[ Upstream commit 8c62d12740a1450d2e8456d5747f440e10db281a ]

svc_destroy() is poorly named - it doesn't necessarily destroy the svc,
it might just reduce the ref count.
nfsd_destroy() is poorly named for the same reason.

This patch:
 - removes the refcount functionality from svc_destroy(), moving it to
   a new svc_put(). Almost all previous callers of svc_destroy() now
   call svc_put().
 - renames nfsd_destroy() to nfsd_put() and improves the code, using
   the new svc_destroy() rather than svc_put()
 - removes a few comments that explain the important for balanced
   get/put calls. This should be obvious.

The only non-trivial part of this is that svc_destroy() would call
svc_sock_update() on a non-final decrement. It can no longer do that,
and svc_put() isn't really a good place of it. This call is now made
from svc_exit_thread() which seems like a good place. This makes the
call *before* sv_nrthreads is decremented rather than after. This
is not particularly important as the call just sets a flag which
causes sv_nrthreads set be checked later. A subsequent patch will
improve the ordering.

252ec73572 NFSD: Have legacy NFSD WRITE decoders use xdr_stream_subsegment()
[ Upstream commit dae9a6cab8009e526570e7477ce858dcdfeb256e ]

Refactor.

Now that the NFSv2 and NFSv3 XDR decoders have been converted to
use xdr_streams, the WRITE decoder functions can use
xdr_stream_subsegment() to extract the WRITE payload into its own
xdr_buf, just as the NFSv4 WRITE XDR decoder currently does.

That makes it possible to pass the first kvec, pages array + length,
page_base, and total payload length via a single function parameter.

The payload's page_base is not yet assigned or used, but will be in
subsequent patches.

c51740a8d7 SUNRPC: Add svc_rqst::rq_auth_stat
[ Upstream commit 438623a06bacd69c40c4af633bb09a3bbb9dfc78 ]

I'd like to take commit 4532608d71c8 ("SUNRPC: Clean up generic
dispatcher code") even further by using only private local SVC
dispatchers for all kernel RPC services. This change would enable
the removal of the logic that switches between
svc_generic_dispatch() and a service's private dispatcher, and
simplify the invocation of the service's pc_release method
so that humans can visually verify that it is always invoked
properly.

All that will come later.

First, let's provide a better way to return authentication errors
from SVC dispatcher functions. Instead of overloading the dispatch
method's *statp argument, add a field to struct svc_rqst that can
hold an error value.

02094bf7cf SUNRPC: Add svc_rqst_replace_page() API
[ Upstream commit 2f0f88f42f2eab0421ed37d7494de9124fdf0d34 ]

Replacing a page in rq_pages[] requires a get_page(), which is a
bus-locked operation, and a put_page(), which can be even more
costly.

To reduce the cost of replacing a page in rq_pages[], batch the
put_page() operations by collecting "freed" pages in a pagevec,
and then release those pages when the pagevec is full. This
pagevec is also emptied when each RPC completes.

ef696bd15f fs: add file and path permissions helpers

Christoph also correctly points out that this makes codepaths (e.g.
ioctls) way easier to follow that would otherwise have to do more
complex argument passing than necessary.

[ Upstream commit 5191955d6fc65e6d4efe8f4f10a6028298f57281 ]

A "permanent" struct xdr_stream is allocated in struct svc_rqst so
that it is usable by all server-side decoders. A per-rqst scratch
buffer is also allocated to handle decoding XDR data items that
cross page boundaries.

To demonstrate how it will be used, add the first call site for the
new svcxdr_init_decode() API.

As an additional part of the overall conversion, add symbolic
constants for successful and failed XDR operations. Returning "0" is
overloaded. Sometimes it means something failed, but sometimes it
means success. To make it more clear when XDR decoding functions
succeed or fail, introduce symbolic constants.

f5d13a708c net: fix __dst_negative_advice() race
commit 92f1655aa2b2294d0b49925f3b875a634bd3b59e upstream.

__dst_negative_advice() does not enforce proper RCU rules when
sk->dst_cache must be cleared, leading to possible UAF.

RCU rules are that we must first clear sk->sk_dst_cache,
then call dst_release(old_dst).

Note that sk_dst_reset(sk) is implementing this protocol correctly,
while __dst_negative_advice() uses the wrong order.

Given that ip6_negative_advice() has special logic
against RTF_CACHE, this means each of the three ->negative_advice()
existing methods must perform the sk_dst_reset() themselves.

Note the check against NULL dst is centralized in
__dst_negative_advice(), there is no need to duplicate
it in various callbacks.

2533c2f8c5 net/ipv6: Fix route deleting failure when metric equals 0
commit bb487272380d120295e955ad8acfcbb281b57642 upstream.

Problem
=========
After commit 67f695134703 ("ipv6: Move setting default metric for routes"),
we noticed that the logic of assigning the default value of fc_metirc
changed in the ioctl process. That is, when users use ioctl(fd, SIOCADDRT,
rt) with a non-zero metric to add a route, then they may fail to delete a
route with passing in a metric value of 0 to the kernel by ioctl(fd,
SIOCDELRT, rt). But iproute can succeed in deleting it.

As a reference, when using iproute tools by netlink to delete routes with
a metric parameter equals 0, like the command as follows:

	ip -6 route del fe80::/64 via fe81::5054:ff:fe11:3451 dev eth0 metric 0

the user can still succeed in deleting the route entry with the smallest
metric.

Root Reason
===========
After commit 67f695134703 ("ipv6: Move setting default metric for routes"),
When ioctl() pass in SIOCDELRT with a zero metric, rtmsg_to_fib6_config()
will set a defalut value (1024) to cfg->fc_metric in kernel, and in
ip6_route_del() and the line 4074 at net/ipv3/route.c, it will check by

	if (cfg->fc_metric && cfg->fc_metric != rt->fib6_metric)
		continue;

and the condition is true and skip the later procedure (deleting route)
because cfg->fc_metric != rt->fib6_metric. But before that commit,
cfg->fc_metric is still zero there, so the condition is false and it
will do the following procedure (deleting).

Solution
========
In order to keep a consistent behaviour across netlink() and ioctl(), we
should allow to delete a route with a metric value of 0. So we only do
the default setting of fc_metric in route adding.

89e5dfad5d tls: fix missing memory barrier in tls_init
[ Upstream commit 91e61dd7a0af660408e87372d8330ceb218be302 ]

In tls_init(), a write memory barrier is missing, and store-store
reordering may cause NULL dereference in tls_{setsockopt,getsockopt}.

CPU0                               CPU1
-----                              -----
// In tls_init()
// In tls_ctx_create()
ctx = kzalloc()
ctx->sk_proto = READ_ONCE(sk->sk_prot) -(1)

// In update_sk_prot()
WRITE_ONCE(sk->sk_prot, tls_prots)     -(2)

                                   // In sock_common_setsockopt()
                                   READ_ONCE(sk->sk_prot)->setsockopt()

                                   // In tls_{setsockopt,getsockopt}()
                                   ctx->sk_proto->setsockopt()    -(3)

In the above scenario, when (1) and (2) are reordered, (3) can observe
the NULL value of ctx->sk_proto, causing NULL dereference.

To fix it, we rely on rcu_assign_pointer() which implies the release
barrier semantic. By moving rcu_assign_pointer() after ctx->sk_proto is
initialized, we can ensure that ctx->sk_proto are visible when
changing sk->sk_prot.

343cc7225d openvswitch: Set the skbuff pkt_type for proper pmtud support.
[ Upstream commit 30a92c9e3d6b073932762bef2ac66f4ee784c657 ]

Open vSwitch is originally intended to switch at layer 2, only dealing with
Ethernet frames. With the introduction of l3 tunnels support, it crossed
into the realm of needing to care a bit about some routing details when
making forwarding decisions. If an oversized packet would need to be
fragmented during this forwarding decision, there is a chance for pmtu
to get involved and generate a routing exception. This is gated by the
skbuff->pkt_type field.

When a flow is already loaded into the openvswitch module this field is
set up and transitioned properly as a packet moves from one port to
another. In the case that a packet execute is invoked after a flow is
newly installed this field is not properly initialized. This causes the
pmtud mechanism to omit sending the required exception messages across
the tunnel boundary and a second attempt needs to be made to make sure
that the routing exception is properly setup. To fix this, we set the
outgoing packet's pkt_type to PACKET_OUTGOING, since it can only get
to the openvswitch module via a port device or packet command.

Even for bridge ports as users, the pkt_type needs to be reset when
doing the transmit as the packet is truly outgoing and routing needs
to get involved post packet transformations, in the case of
VXLAN/GENEVE/udp-tunnel packets. In general, the pkt_type on output
gets ignored, since we go straight to the driver, but in the case of
tunnel ports they go through IP routing layer.

This issue is periodically encountered in complex setups, such as large
openshift deployments, where multiple sets of tunnel traversal occurs.
A way to recreate this is with the ovn-heater project that can setup
a networking environment which mimics such large deployments. We need
larger environments for this because we need to ensure that flow
misses occur. In these environment, without this patch, we can see:

  ./ovn_cluster.sh start
  podman exec ovn-chassis-1 ip r a 170.168.0.5/32 dev eth1 mtu 1200
  podman exec ovn-chassis-1 ip netns exec sw01p1 ip r flush cache
  podman exec ovn-chassis-1 ip netns exec sw01p1 \
         ping 21.0.0.3 -M do -s 1300 -c2
  PING 21.0.0.3 (21.0.0.3) 1300(1328) bytes of data.
  From 21.0.0.3 icmp_seq=2 Frag needed and DF set (mtu = 1142)

  --- 21.0.0.3 ping statistics ---
  ...

Using tcpdump, we can also see the expected ICMP FRAG_NEEDED message is not
sent into the server.

With this patch, setting the pkt_type, we see the following:

  podman exec ovn-chassis-1 ip netns exec sw01p1 \
         ping 21.0.0.3 -M do -s 1300 -c2
  PING 21.0.0.3 (21.0.0.3) 1300(1328) bytes of data.
  From 21.0.0.3 icmp_seq=1 Frag needed and DF set (mtu = 1222)
  ping: local error: message too long, mtu=1222

  --- 21.0.0.3 ping statistics ---
  ...

In this case, the first ping request receives the FRAG_NEEDED message and
a local routing exception is created.

bfa7e25b56 tcp: Fix shift-out-of-bounds in dctcp_update_alpha().
[ Upstream commit 3ebc46ca8675de6378e3f8f40768e180bb8afa66 ]

In dctcp_update_alpha(), we use a module parameter dctcp_shift_g
as follows:

  alpha -= min_not_zero(alpha, alpha >> dctcp_shift_g);
  ...
  delivered_ce <<= (10 - dctcp_shift_g);

It seems syzkaller started fuzzing module parameters and triggered
shift-out-of-bounds [0] by setting 100 to dctcp_shift_g:

  memcpy((void*)0x20000080,
         "/sys/module/tcp_dctcp/parameters/dctcp_shift_g\000", 47);
  res = syscall(__NR_openat, /*fd=*/0xffffffffffffff9cul, /*file=*/0x20000080ul,
                /*flags=*/2ul, /*mode=*/0ul);

  syscall(__NR_write, /*fd=*/r[0], /*val=*/0x20000000ul, /*len=*/4ul);

Let's limit the max value of dctcp_shift_g by param_set_uint_minmax().

With this patch:

  # echo 10 > /sys/module/tcp_dctcp/parameters/dctcp_shift_g
  # cat /sys/module/tcp_dctcp/parameters/dctcp_shift_g

eee7491ce2 rpcrdma: fix handling for RDMA_CM_EVENT_DEVICE_REMOVAL
[ Upstream commit 4836da219781ec510c4c0303df901aa643507a7a ]

Under the scenario of IB device bonding, when bringing down one of the
ports, or all ports, we saw xprtrdma entering a non-recoverable state
where it is not even possible to complete the disconnect and shut it
down the mount, requiring a reboot. Following debug, we saw that
transport connect never ended after receiving the
RDMA_CM_EVENT_DEVICE_REMOVAL callback.

The DEVICE_REMOVAL callback is irrespective of whether the CM_ID is
connected, and ESTABLISHED may not have happened. So need to work with
each of these states accordingly.

dab0b927f5 sunrpc: fix NFSACL RPC retry on soft mount
[ Upstream commit 0dc9f430027b8bd9073fdafdfcdeb1a073ab5594 ]

It used to be quite awhile ago since 1b63a75180c6 ('SUNRPC: Refactor
rpc_clone_client()'), in 2012, that `cl_timeout` was copied in so that
all mount parameters propagate to NFSACL clients. However since that
change, if mount options as follows are given:

    soft,timeo=50,retrans=16,vers=3

The resultant NFSACL client receives:

    cl_softrtry: 1
    cl_timeout: to_initval=60000, to_maxval=60000, to_increment=0, to_retries=2, to_exponential=0

These values lead to NFSACL operations not being retried under the
condition of transient network outages with soft mount. Instead, getacl
call fails after 60 seconds with EIO.

The simple fix is to pass the existing client's `cl_timeout` as the new
client timeout.

Based on the way that the ->pages[] array is constructed in
gss_read_proxy_verf(), we know that once the loop encounters a NULL

a1fc9a1f4a net: openvswitch: fix overwriting ct original tuple for ICMPv6
[ Upstream commit 7c988176b6c16c516474f6fceebe0f055af5eb56 ]

OVS_PACKET_CMD_EXECUTE has 3 main attributes:
 - OVS_PACKET_ATTR_KEY - Packet metadata in a netlink format.
 - OVS_PACKET_ATTR_PACKET - Binary packet content.
 - OVS_PACKET_ATTR_ACTIONS - Actions to execute on the packet.

OVS_PACKET_ATTR_KEY is parsed first to populate sw_flow_key structure
with the metadata like conntrack state, input port, recirculation id,
etc. Then the packet itself gets parsed to populate the rest of the
keys from the packet headers.

Whenever the packet parsing code starts parsing the ICMPv6 header, it
first zeroes out fields in the key corresponding to Neighbor Discovery
information even if it is not an ND packet.

It is an 'ipv6.nd' field. However, the 'ipv6' is a union that shares
the space between 'nd' and 'ct_orig' that holds the original tuple
conntrack metadata parsed from the OVS_PACKET_ATTR_KEY.

ND packets should not normally have conntrack state, so it's fine to
share the space, but normal ICMPv6 Echo packets or maybe other types of
ICMPv6 can have the state attached and it should not be overwritten.

The issue results in all but the last 4 bytes of the destination
address being wiped from the original conntrack tuple leading to
incorrect packet matching and potentially executing wrong actions
in case this packet recirculates within the datapath or goes back
to userspace.

ND fields should not be accessed in non-ND packets, so not clearing
them should be fine. Executing memset() only for actual ND packets to
avoid the issue.

Initializing the whole thing before parsing is needed because ND packet
may not contain all the options.

The issue only affects the OVS_PACKET_CMD_EXECUTE path and doesn't
affect packets entering OVS datapath from network interfaces, because
in this case CT metadata is populated from skb after the packet is
already parsed.

8caeb533bb af_unix: Fix data races in unix_release_sock/unix_stream_sendmsg
[ Upstream commit 540bf24fba16b88c1b3b9353927204b4f1074e25 ]

A data-race condition has been identified in af_unix. In one data path,
the write function unix_release_sock() atomically writes to
sk->sk_shutdown using WRITE_ONCE. However, on the reader side,
unix_stream_sendmsg() does not read it atomically. Consequently, this
issue is causing the following KCSAN splat to occur:

62f8f620eb net: ipv6: fix wrong start position when receive hop-by-hop fragment
[ Upstream commit 1cd354fe1e4864eeaff62f66ee513080ec946f20 ]

In IPv6, ipv6_rcv_core will parse the hop-by-hop type extension header and increase skb->transport_header by one extension header length.
But if there are more other extension headers like fragment header at this time, the skb->transport_header points to the second extension header,
not the transport layer header or the first extension header.

This will result in the start and nexthdrp variable not pointing to the same position in ipv6frag_thdr_trunced,
and ipv6_skip_exthdr returning incorrect offset and frag_off.Sometimes,the length of the last sharded packet is smaller than the calculated incorrect offset, resulting in packet loss.
We can use network header to offset and calculate the correct position to solve this problem.
